The SARAH volunteer’s role is to provide emotional support to sexual assault survivors and their loved ones at hospital, detachment or one of our offices following a sexual assault. The SARAH Worker acts as support for the survivors when dealing with medical staff and police. Workers are scheduled on call one weekend every 6 to 8 weeks and contacted by cellphone.
Our volunteers have varied life, education and work experiences but all see the value of supporting victims of sexual violence. If you live or work in eastern Manitoba and are interested in a volunteer position as a SARAH Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention Worker please call 1-204-753-5353, email firstname.lastname@example.org , or drop into our Pinawa office at Lewis Business Centre (Mon to Thurs) for more information on the application process and training sessions.
We also have a variety of volunteer opportunities with the Board. Directors attend Board business meetings every two months, with optional educational meetings alternating months. There are also short term tasks and projects that require helping hands. If a Board commitment doesn’t fit your schedule perhaps working on a committee will meet your needs. Those interested in learning more about a Director position or short term committee opportunities can call 1-204-753-5353 or email email@example.com .
