Reaching Out Program

Engaging communities – empowering individuals – supporting victims

Reaching Out is a companion program to the SARAH and SADI Programs.  The program provides us with opportunities to share information on sexual violence, relationship abuse, and best practices in addressing recovery and the root causes of violence. Information is shared within the region with service providers, service groups, and community members.  This program promotes awareness of the impact of victimization, the needs of victims, the responsibilities of communities and individual bystanders, and the availability of regional support services.

Our objective is to provide relevant information by being responsive to the needs of community members and offer resources through various means to increase awareness of victims, secondary victims, youth, community members, community groups, and service providers.

Our new drop in office is open in the Winnipeg River Learning Centre in Powerview-Pine Falls. The office is open Mondays from noon to 5:00 to provide services to anyone seeking information around sexual assault or relationship abuse. A Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention Worker is onsite to provide information, review options and offer referrals to support services.

Reaching Out connects with the community through:

  • distribution of printed resources (pamphlets, posters, information cards & bookmarks)
  • engagement through social media platforms (Facebook, webpage)
  • sharing printed and audio materials available through our resource library
  • distribution of information packages to service providers, educators, and employers
  • hosting educational and awareness-raising events
  • publications in regional newspapers
  • presentations to service providers, women’s groups, service groups, businesses, and educators
